GOSKYSCOUT PLANNING GUIDE

Airline baggage guide: compare the ticket, not the airline name

Baggage allowances belong to the selected ticket and itinerary. They can vary by fare family, cabin, route, frequent-flyer status and the airlines involved, so a single number copied from an airline homepage is not enough.

Use this guide with live results

Search results show offers for the selected itinerary. This page supplies the questions that make those offers comparable.

Start with the fare family

Open the baggage detail for the exact result. Record the cabin allowance, checked allowance, number or weight system, dimensions and any personal-item rule. “Economy” can contain several fare families with different allowances. A codeshare can also display one brand while another airline operates the aircraft.

Price the luggage you will actually take

Compare the fare plus any bag you expect to add. Check whether pre-purchased baggage costs less than airport payment and whether a heavy or oversize item has separate limits. Do not split belongings across passengers unless the ticket rules explicitly permit pooling. Keep medication, documents and essential valuables in the appropriate cabin bag.

Connections need another check

For a through ticket, confirm whether bags are tagged to the final airport and whether customs requires collection during transit. For separate tickets, assume you may need to enter the connection country, collect luggage, change terminal and check in again until the airlines confirm otherwise. That time and risk belong in the comparison.

Before payment

Save or screenshot the allowance displayed for the selected fare, then verify it again on the airline or booking provider checkout. Read restricted-item rules for batteries, liquids, sports equipment and special baggage from the operating airline and relevant airport or authority.

Read the itinerary

Check airport codes, operating airlines, stops, elapsed time and ticket structure.

Verify at checkout

Confirm the final price and conditions with the selected provider before payment.
