GOSKYSCOUT PLANNING GUIDE

Transit visa checklist for connecting flights

A connection does not automatically mean a traveller may remain airside, and an airport transit does not automatically permit entry into the country. The answer depends on nationality, documents, itinerary, airport and ticket structure.

Use this guide with live results

Search results show offers for the selected itinerary. This page supplies the questions that make those offers comparable.

Map the real itinerary

Record every airport code, terminal, operating airline and ticket number. Check whether the connection involves an airport change, an overnight wait, baggage collection or a move between terminals that passes immigration. A search result’s city label can hide these details.

Ask whether entry is required

Confirm whether bags are checked through and whether the connection remains in the international transit area. Separate tickets often require collection and recheck, which may require entry permission. Ask both airlines, but verify the legal requirement with the relevant government or official document-checking source.

Check documents before paying

Verify passport validity, visa or transit authorization, residence-document rules and any onward-ticket requirement for the exact nationality and itinerary. Recheck close to departure. Goskyscout cannot decide eligibility and does not treat an airline boarding pass as immigration approval.

Build a disruption buffer

Allow time for security, walking, terminal movement, baggage and recheck deadlines. On separate tickets, the second airline may have no duty to rebook after a delay. Compare a protected through itinerary with the apparent saving from self-connecting.

A repeatable booking check

Keep inputs equal

Use the same dates, travellers, cabin and baggage requirement for every option.

Read the itinerary

Check airport codes, operating airlines, stops, elapsed time and ticket structure.

Verify at checkout

Confirm the final price and conditions with the selected provider before payment.
